Fijian kava is renowned for being the smoothest and mildest of the Pacific kavas, typically crafted from "noble" root varieties. While deeply earthy and slightly bitter, it goes down much easier than its bolder Vanuatuan counterparts.
Primary Tasting Notes
- Earthy & Woody: Prominent notes of wet soil, fresh-cut grass, and bark.
- Nutty/Starchy: A distinct, mild creaminess reminiscent of raw root vegetables, parsnips, or unsweetened matcha.
- Peppery & Spicy: A gentle, lingering heat at the back of the throat from natural kavalactones.
- The "Mouthfeel": Creates a noticeable tingling and numbing sensation on the tongue and lips, similar to a mild throat lozenge.
